Book Launch

A thoroughly enjoyable time I had at my cousin, Pam's Book Launch. She was launching not one..not two but three books! That's Pam for you- always doing things in a big way.

The books: Time Traveller's Mailbox– Journey Worker's Edition (for that 25 to 45 year old negotiating life's purpose amidst the chaos of life), Time Traveller's Mailbox –Teenage Edition (very good for those parents raising teens-Mums navigating hormonal changes even as they deal with their own changes), and God's Masterpiece-Fit for Purpose (for the 45+ masterpieces tried and tested journeyers rooted in purpose?)

The execution of such a herculean task would spell anxiety and worry among lesser mortals but not Pam…she pulled it off with all the flair and pomp it deserved as well as a finesse that showed a master in her craft.

Did I tell you she was also celebrating her 50th? The verve and youthful exuberance she displayed would mislead you into thinking she was in her teens (she payed me to say this…jokes๐Ÿ˜‰)

I will sign off with a few lines I picked from the many eloquent speakers on the day..

Her Mum, the ever jolly Auntie Jolly, said she was proud of her daughter, Pamela Keirungi Babirukamu and implored all gathered to love Pamela..love my daughter…she deserves all the love…

Her daughters, beneficiaries of the love she so lavishes, cheered her on and prayed that she wouldn't fold when called to speak…they were prayers well answered. It was evident they are following in their mum's footsteps ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

The MC, Colin Babirukamu did the mic justice, engaging the female strong audience…and laughing about how many few men showed up. This i must say was no mistake- Pam's Call has always been women-centred and she's stood true to form in that regard. As her young brother, he lauded Pam for saving the family by being the first author in their clan…heep heep✊๐Ÿฟ

Talking of the one called…she spoke lovingly of her labours of love- her books- each speaking to a different age groups.

She reminded us all that we are God's masterpieces..all uniquely put here on earth for a particular purpose. She remembers how all her report cards read the same-”Pamela could do better if she stopped talking in class..” not knowing she was walking in purpose…Here she is 50 young years later being called to speak and speak and speak…Her report card is full of glowing remarks this time

There was an interactive interlude manned by the ever witty Dora Okuja who picked gems from the three books for the audience to chew on and reflect..some of those reflections?

-What’s your relationship with sleep?

-Am I letting work drown out my life?

-Are you Investing time with family or has life gotten too busy for anything else?

-How core are your social networks?

-Are you intentionally nurturing your spirit everyday or do you expect it to just grow by itself?

I especially liked the one where we had to pick our phones and send this message to one deserving- Thank you for making my life comfortable thank you for showing my care. I terribly flunked when I tried to guess who my neighbor had sent the message to๐Ÿ˜„..Did I tell you who my neighbor was? The guest of honor, Dr Eunice Adubango.

When called to speak, Dr Eunice went on in the same breath emphasizing how we were fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator, and how every path that we take is preparing us for who we will be. She laughed at those who wonder how someone like her studied engineering and even got a PhD to end up in the food business. 'Obviously they don't understand engineering and they don't understand food," she pointed out. She was being prepared to bring her engineering knowledge in her food business and it's working just fine…those who have issues, should take it up with God! Always see yourself in God’s eyes and rest in His design she beseeched.

The vivacious Beverley sent in her video message to Pam and hers was a call to embrace who you are and never feel ashamed to flaunt it. Don't mind those who don't get you as you stroll down the beach in your swimsuit in your 40’s with all the rest judgy-judgy yet shy. Don't worry about them…Those that are too little keep telling people they are too much.

Love yourself before you change yourself.

I will let Pam have the last word(s)…she always does…and these, for me, were gems: Many of us are masterpieces struggling to master peace…still, you are His masterpiece. There is no competition in this gallery of life. You are uniquely put together for your purpose. BE YOU DO YOU…and don't forget to dance…even if it's in your room…๐ŸŽค drop
